NASHVILLE, TN — A Metro Nashville Public Schools student faces disciplinary action after circulating social media threats, the district said Tuesday.
Metro Nashville Police were alerted to a threat against Cane Ridge High School making the rounds online and were able to identify the student. Police went to the student’s home and determined the threat was not credible.
The student was barred from school Wednesday and will be disciplined “in accordance with the MNPS Student Code of Conduct,” the district said. Criminal charges could be forthcoming as well.
“Posts like these are not received as jokes and every threat will be investigated immediately,” a statement from the schools said. “Thanks to the individuals that immediately notified us to address this concern. We’d like to encourage everyone to be vigilant when it comes to suspicious activity in and out of our schools.”
